Credenza in Brazilian Cherry with Maple Details

The client required furniture to accommodate audiophile equipment and media storage. Also desired was a distinctive piece showcasing the finest techniques in solid wood joinery. Three sliding pocket doors neatly tuck away when the cabinet is operating. The back is also finished with three panels identical to the doors on the front, allowing the piece to be positioned within a space to be seen from both sides.

The panels that make up the top, bottom, and sides of the cabinet are comprised of individual boards, splined and cross-battened together. Two frames are integrated within these panels, and compose the interior layout as well as find articulation on the exterior and in the leg detail. Finally, dovetail splines of contrasting maple join the mitered corners of the case. These techniques allow each individual piece of wood to expand and contract with seasonal temperature and humidity changes, resulting in highly stable furniture that will last generations.
